It has been sometime since I posted and in response to the overwhelming number of people visiting and searching for the diecast model of Dom’s 900HP Dodge Charger, I am offering a second post on the topic. (You can see my first post on the Fast and Furious Charger here: https://doogiesdiecast.wordpress.com/2011/11/27/doms1970-dodge-charger-900hp-the-fast-and-the-furious/ ).

In this new post you will find pictures of both the 1:18 and the 1:43 scale diecast models of Dom’s Fast and Furious 900HP Dodge Charger. Enjoy the photos and please leave a comment.

This picture is just for laughs. Yes I could have spent a lot more time to make it a little more realistic but thats not the point of the exercise. Its just for a bit of fun. Enjoy.

Aussie Muscle Car War Of 1971 – Trax Diecast Aussie Muscle Set

Greetings diecast fans. I have been wanting to do an entry on the Trax 1/43 Diecast Aussie Muscle Car Set for sometime so here it is. There has been a lot written about the so-called super-car scare of the early 1970’s and I will be providing some good links so you can do your own research, but suffice it to say this set is ultimate for the collector who wants to own the cars (in model form   🙂 ) that fuelled that argument. The set includes models of:

  • Holden Monaro HK Coupe powered by the 327 cubic inch V8
  • Valiant Charger R/T powered by the 265 cubic inch I6
  • Ford Falcon GTHO Phase 3 powered by the 351 cubic inch V8

Enjoy the photos and I will give some good links at the bottom of the page for you to research the war, one which is quite current.

There is a fair amount of info on the internet about the muscle car/supercar scare of the early 70’s in Australia so you can use google to find them. Below I offer links to a few of them.

1971 VH Valiant Charger R/T (Road/Track)

My love affair with Australian Valiants began after we left Australia and settled in New Zealand. There had been some buzz among my school-mates about this awesome new Valiant Coupe coming out soon; The Charger. Now there was no internet in those days, so information was scarce but with the scrap of a magazine article here or a rumour there, the excitement grew. And then, there it was. Here’s how it happened. One lovely sunny day on a school excursion to the Bee-Hive (New Zealand’s Parliament Building at that time) a busload of kiddies were rolling down the highway and I was one of them. I scored a window seat and was trying to ignore the general hubbub and commotion and was staring out the window, and there it was, coming out of a side road somewhere around Paraparumu (try saying that one with a mouthful of Jaffas). My first ever sighting of a Charger. It was an R/T Six Pack, Yellow, brand spanking new. I excitedly shouted to my mates, “look, look, a Charger!”. And so begun the dream; “I’m going to own one someday”. At a later date I will go into the details of how that dream came true but for now, enjoy the pics of my Trax 1/43 scale VH Valiant Charger R/T.

Valiant Charger Police Highway Patrol

I read somewhere that only South Australia and New South Wales used Valiant Chargers as Highway Patrol vehicles. I can’t remember seeing them in NSW, but I clearly remember them using the Ford Falcon coupes with 351 V8s. They were awesome. I witnessed more than one pursuit where they were used and I can confirm they sounded awesome when floored ( no I wasn’t the one being pursued, not by the Coupes anyway 🙂 ).

However I can confirm South Oz used Chargers. On our trip across to South Oz in 1978 ( see my earlier EH Holden Wagon entry https://doogiesdiecast.wordpress.com/2011/11/27/1964-eh-holden-station-wagon/ ) I saw them. From memory they were CL Model Chargers, light blue with high vis colour stripes. They stood out and were a bit of a novelty back then because  if you can remember,  most cop cars were rather drab in that era.

Anyway, here for your viewing pleasure is my Trax VH Charger Highway Patrol in 1/43 scale. I think it is supposed to be NSW Highway Patrol but I don’t know much about the NSW Chargers. I found some detailed info in PDF format http://www.cavoa.com/index2.php?option=com_content&do_pdf=1&id=25 Not my info but take a look anyway. Also if you’re reading this and you know more about NSWHP Chargers, let us know in the comments section. Thanks.
